Photo of the Day: Where Few People Go at The Grand Canyon - Point Sublime

At the end of a long and bumpy dirt road you'll arrive here. Point Sublime at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  A hundred years ago, give or take, guys were making this same trek to this same point just to draw, to paint, or to sit on a rock and wonder . . . wonder . . . wonder. Times haven't changed much. If you saw the PBS series about the National Parks you may have caught how early 19th-century automobile ownership affected the National Park system.  And it seems the touring public wants to know, "How much can I see in the shortest amount of time?"  Well, a run out to Point Sublime is not for the masses.  The 19-mile trail takes around 2 hours to drive, assuming you don't need to move befallen trees off the road. It's an adventure, and worth the trouble.

Side note: primitive camping right here is allowed, but you need a backcountry permit to do so.
